Luciana Pereyra has a B.S. in Food Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, Argentina and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University. Her doctoral research focused on the biomolecular characterization of the microbial communities responsible for the remediation of mining-influenced water. Dr. Pereyra also conducted postdoctoral research at Colorado State University and Lund University (Sweden) in the areas of biofuels from microalgae and industrial biotechnology, respectively. Luciana works on evolving topics including potable reuse and constituents of emerging concern in water and serves as one of Trussell’s UV treatment specialists. Her work on these areas includes treatment system design, bench-scale testing design and execution, data analysis and technical report development, project management, and regulatory support including interactions with the Division of Drinking Water and Regional Water Boards. In addition to her consulting role at Trussell, Luciana is the manager of Trussell’s San Diego laboratory, where she leads the implementation of cell-based bioassay methods for monitoring constituents of emerging concern in recycled water and also provides support for client projects. Luciana’s interests include potable reuse and biological processes in water and wastewater treatment.
