Owen Zuidema (he/him) is an associate engineer at Trussell’s Oakland office with a background in Civil and Environmental Engineering, holding an M.S. from the University of California, Davis, and a B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley. With a passion for water resource management in California, Owen has experience in water treatment engineering, environmental research, and sustainable construction. At the East Bay Municipal Utility District, he played a major role in design calculations, feasibility studies, and project coordination, contributing to critical drinking water projects in the Bay Area. While earning his master’s degree at UC Davis, he concentrated on water resources engineering and performed a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis of lithium extraction from geothermal deposits in the Salton Sea basin in Southern California. Additionally, his research at UC Berkeley focused on wastewater-based epidemiology, where he contributed to public health efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Owen is fluent in English and Spanish, and he is proficient in a variety of engineering software tools. He is eager to leverage his skills and experiences to make a radical impact in urban infrastructure and resource management.
