Luke received his B.S. in chemistry from Centre College and worked as an analytical chemist for three years before returning to graduate school. He then received his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2024. Luke’s research at Arizona was primarily focused on optimizing membrane distillation (MD) for potable water reuse in off-grid applications. Much of this work involved identifying sources of fouling and scaling and developing cleaning methods that maintain high water quality. Luke then worked as a postdoctoral researcher with the Engineering Research and Development Center of the Army Corps of Engineers. During this time, he operated a pilot-scale portable treatment unit using MBR, MD, and UV disinfection train to be used in military applications and developed a project connecting advanced water treatment with hydrogen generation for clean energy production and storage. Luke joined Trussell in 2025 to further his dedication to developing reliable treatment systems that ensure safe, high-quality water for all users.
