Dr. Pecson is the Director of Engineering leading Trussell’s Oakland office. He has over 20 years of experience in engineering and public health that allows him to address a variety of complex issues in the treatment of water, wastewater, and recycled water. Dr. Pecson is working on multiple emerging topics including direct potable reuse (DPR), onsite reuse, and contaminated groundwaters. Recently, he has specialized in the development of public health criteria for emerging applications, the evaluation and testing of technologies that meet these criteria, and the design of full-scale treatment systems for both drinking water and recycled water. Dr. Pecson works closely with California’s Division of Drinking Water and has helped negotiate several innovative reuse permits. He recently served as the Principal Investigator for two key pathogen-related research projects supporting DPR regulatory development in California (WRF4951 and WRF4989). Dr. Pecson has authored 27 research papers on topics ranging from pathogen and chemical control strategies to public health protection and risk assessment.
