The Process and Water Quality Specialists
Yamrot M. Amha, Ph.D. has a B.S. in Environmental Health from California State University Northridge, a M.S. in water & Environmental Engineering from Masdar Institute, a M.S. in Green Technologies from University of Southern California (USC), and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from USC. Her Ph.D. thesis, under the guidance of Professor Adam Smith, was on optimization of energy recovery using operational and design strategies, in wastewater treatment plants and in anaerobic membrane bioreactors (AnMBRs). Previously, she worked on microbial source tracking and quantitative microbial risk assessment of water reuse for edible crop irrigation, which advised the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi on expansion of water reuse. Dr. Amha has a strong publication record with 7 peer-reviewed journal articles, several conference publications, and close to 200 citations. Her area of interest and expertise include process design & optimization of water treatment, application of molecular tools for monitoring process performance and potential pathogens, and membrane bioreactors.
